ESO

Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) has been the Spanish Secondary educational system since 1996. Its objetive is to prepare students between 12 and 16 years old to continue their studies or to enter the work market.

Characteristics

  • It is the final academic stage for some students and a preparatory stage for those who intend to continue studying.
  • Its objectives are: preparation of the student for the working world and for academic life.
  • The integrating character is for all students.
  • It has common subjects and optional subjects (chosen by the students and offered by the centre). These include academic support and offer complementary themes.
  • It is organized in four academic years.
  • The subjects are taught by University Graduates.
